On November 12, 2024, the US Department of Defense (DOD), the General Services Administration (GSA), and NASA—collectively known as the “FAR Council”—rolled out an interim rule, set to take effect on November 12, 2024. This update revises the Federal Acquisition Regulation (“FAR”) clause concerning System for Award Management (“SAM”) registration. This makes it clear that if an offeror doesn’t keep their System for Award Management (SAM) registration up to date between submitting their proposal and receiving the contract, it doesn’t automatically disqualify them from being awarded the contract. This interim rule is a breath of fresh air for contractors of all sizes, as the previous version had left many facing ineligibility due to what some referred to as a technicality. MORE HERE
